have activities that will inspire and encourage them to join in and give them a purpose and much to look forward to. a monthly activities sheet is displayed in each room. we have seasonal celebrations throughout the year and celebrate many national events in the home. some of these have included the royal wedding, diamond jubilee, olympic games, wimbledon, and chinese new year. special services are also held at harvest and christmas time. we commemorate armistice day which is very important to our residents who are rightly proud to display their medals, and are given the opportunity to remember those lost who were near and dear to them. we also have weekly term-time visits from st, michaels primary school year 6 children who are welcomed enthusiastically each week by our residents. they play games and sing and generally bring with them lots of fun and laughter. we also welcome on a fortnightly basis ormskirk secondary school who bring with them a wealth of talent singing and dancing and playing musical instruments. every month we enjoy tai chi and an afternoon of relaxing music with a keyboard player from our local u3a group. every two weeks we have an art class which is very popular with our residents who produce beautiful pictures which they display in their rooms. films are shown regularly in our theatre and visiting musicians regularly entertain the residents with uplifting sing-a-longs and a very wide range of music ranging from popular musicals to memory provoking songs from their era. the residents are always encouraged to enjoy the beautiful grounds that surround our home and are taken out whenever we have good weather. baking, circle dancing and trips out are all activities which can be enjoyed on a regular basis. a cheese and wine evening every thursday evening
